Member Service Representative - Summer Student

The Position

Reporting to the Manager of Member Service and Administration, the successful applicant will be responsible for handling all cash and non-cash transactions. MSR will also provide a full range of member services such as processing withdrawals, deposits, responding to member inquiries and analyzing their needs to assist members to utilize the products and services that best meet their needs. This position is Full-Time hourly $19.50, 37.5 hrs per week.

 

Experience/Education:

The successful applicant will possess a Grade 12 diploma. The candidate must be 18 years of age or older. Strong verbal and written communication skills are required as well as experience with Windows and Microsoft Office.

MSR Supervisor

Compass has 2 Branches in Brandon, 1 in Erickson, Manitoba, an insurance company and assets of $230 million. We serve over 6,400 members and have a staff group of almost 40. Compass Credit Union has an opportunity for a successful individual to join our team.

 

THE POSITION:

Under general direction, manages a variety of administrative and operational activities in the deposit and investment area within clearly defined policies and procedures. Organizes and supervises the activities of the member service representatives. May be active in one area (ie., registered plans, account opening). This position monitors all department deposit activities and regularly reviews performance of the department to ensure that the application of checks and balances are in place including audit trails. The position monitors security requirements and manages cash and negotiable items. Business development responsibilities include the analysis and follow up on member needs and the initiation of action to promote and deliver savings, service and investment products. Maintains terms and conditions of the Oath of Secrecy, Fintrac’s Anti-Money Laundering Regulations, Privacy Act and other policies as established by the Credit Union.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS:

Reporting to the Branch Manager, supervise the daily activities of the member service representatives at the Branch location, delegating tasks as required. Ensure cross-training is in place to provide uninterrupted Member service in the event of vacations or other absences. Provide training and guidance to MSR’s, through personal leadership and example, creating a working environment conducive to staff development, teamwork and productivity.

Ensure delivery of professional, prompt, accurate and friendly Member Service, putting the Members’ needs ahead of internal processes. Ensure strict confidentiality of Members’ affairs as well as business dealings of the Credit Union.

Ensure adherence to policies and procedures, security measures and legislative requirements. Maintain joint custody of treasury, ATM and negotiable items.

Maintain and log cash counts and treasury bundle counts, cash parcel orders and shipments. Maintain log of negotiable items.

Ensure observation of morning opening procedures and entry signals. Monitor combination changes.

May be responsible for recruiting and hiring member service representatives for your department as needed.

View and maintain daily/monthly reports.

And other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIRED SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

· Experience with a variety of software, hardware and applications

· Strong analytical skills

· Excellent member service skills in solving technical issues

· Ability to work quickly under pressure

· Great problem-solving skills

· Communicate electronically and in person with staff, members, board of directors and vendors

· Cybersecurity knowledge/training or willingness to enroll in

· Valid Class 5 driver’s license as travel to various branches may be required

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Grade 12 diploma plus one to three years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Relevant work experience in customer service, leadership, or a related field.
  • Degree in Business Administration, Management, Communication, or a related field.
  • Prior experience in a supervisory or leadership role, especially in the financial services industry.
  • Specialized training or certifications in customer service, leadership, or team management.
  • Leadership or supervisory training programs.
  • Knowledge of credit union operations, policies, and member service standards.

SALARY:

Grade 7   $49,896 - $61,064
